About VG Dult Halsbach

The VG Dult Halsbach is the joint Volksfest (popular festival) of the Kirchweidach administrative district in the southeastern Bavarian Inn-Salzach region. The administrative district comprises the municipalities of Halsbach, Feichten, Kastl, Kirchweidach, and Tyrlaching — five small communities that jointly organize their Volksfest, alternating between one of the member municipalities. In 2026, Halsbach will be the host: six days of marquee operation with catering, music, and amusement rides from July 16th to 21st. Halsbach — located on the Halsbach, a tributary of the Alz — is in the district of Altötting, state of Bavaria. The VG Dult follows the tradition of East Bavarian Volksfeste and combines rural identity with classic festival culture.

A Dult of the Five Municipalities

The VG Dult of the Kirchweidach Administrative District is an unusual form of Volksfest organization: instead of giving each municipality its own Dult, the five municipalities — Halsbach, Feichten an der Alz, Kastl, Kirchweidach, and Tyrlaching — organize their Volksfest together, alternating the venue among the member municipalities. This concept distributes the effort and costs while simultaneously creating broader identification with the festival.

Six Days of Volksfest in Halsbach

In 2026, the VG Dult will take place in Halsbach — from July 16th to 21st, a classic mid-July period for East Bavarian Dulten. The festival tent will be operated by a consortium of caterers, and the amusement rides will be provided by showmen from the southeastern Bavarian region. Snack and confectionery stands will complement the offerings. The concept follows the traditional Lower Bavarian-Upper Bavarian "O'zapft is" (It is tapped!) scheme.

Halsbach and the Inn-Salzach Region

Halsbach is a municipality with around 1,100 inhabitants in the district of Altötting, administrative region of Upper Bavaria, state of Bavaria. It is located in the Inn-Salzach region, in the hilly landscape between the Alz and Salzach rivers. The region — characterized by agriculture, small industrial businesses, and the pilgrimage site of Altötting — maintains a strong tradition of Volksfeste and customs. The VG Dult is one of the local Volksfeste that heralds the actual summer.

What Makes the VG Dult Special

Unlike the larger Volksfeste in Burghausen, Altötting, or Mühldorf, the VG Dult Halsbach remains manageable in its scale — and that is precisely its charm. Families from the five VG municipalities meet, they know the caterers and showmen, and the festival tent becomes a place for neighborly encounters. The festival program changes annually; reliably present are classic festival tent bands, a children's afternoon, and parades of local clubs.
