Volksfest of the administrative district in the Inn-Salzach region
The VG Dult of the Kirchweidach Administrative District is an unusual form of Volksfest organization: instead of giving each municipality its own Dult, the five municipalities — Halsbach, Feichten an der Alz, Kastl, Kirchweidach, and Tyrlaching — organize their Volksfest together, alternating the venue among the member municipalities. This concept distributes the effort and costs while simultaneously creating broader identification with the festival.
In 2026, the VG Dult will take place in Halsbach — from July 16th to 21st, a classic mid-July period for East Bavarian Dulten. The festival tent will be operated by a consortium of caterers, and the amusement rides will be provided by showmen from the southeastern Bavarian region. Snack and confectionery stands will complement the offerings. The concept follows the traditional Lower Bavarian-Upper Bavarian "O'zapft is" (It is tapped!) scheme.
Halsbach is a municipality with around 1,100 inhabitants in the district of Altötting, administrative region of Upper Bavaria, state of Bavaria. It is located in the Inn-Salzach region, in the hilly landscape between the Alz and Salzach rivers. The region — characterized by agriculture, small industrial businesses, and the pilgrimage site of Altötting — maintains a strong tradition of Volksfeste and customs. The VG Dult is one of the local Volksfeste that heralds the actual summer.
Unlike the larger Volksfeste in Burghausen, Altötting, or Mühldorf, the VG Dult Halsbach remains manageable in its scale — and that is precisely its charm. Families from the five VG municipalities meet, they know the caterers and showmen, and the festival tent becomes a place for neighborly encounters. The festival program changes annually; reliably present are classic festival tent bands, a children's afternoon, and parades of local clubs.
The date July 16–21, 2026, is confirmed by the regional event calendar inn-salzach.com — Volksfeste & Dulten. The VG Dult is hosted alternately by one of the five member municipalities; in 2026, Halsbach is the host.
The complete daily program — including the opening ceremony, bands in the festival tent, parades, and family afternoon — will be published by the Kirchweidach administrative district shortly before the Dult.
The detailed program schedule will be published by the VG Kirchweidach shortly before the festival. Based on previous events, the following framework can be expected:
