Over 640 years old Dult in the Bierstadl with festival beer from the Bräu im Moos brewery – “Cosiness instead of hustle and bustle"
The Tüßlinger Dult is one of the oldest Dulten (traditional markets with festival tent operation) in Bavaria and can look back on over 640 years of history. The word "Dult" comes from the Old High German "tult" (festival day). The first mentions of the Tüßlinger Dult date back to the late Middle Ages. Today, the festival is firmly anchored in the event calendar of the Inn-Salzach region (Altötting district).
The festival beer comes from the Bräu im Moos brewery in Tüßling. Founded in 1870, the family brewery is run by the Münch family in the fifth generation and is idyllically located in the middle of a nature reserve with a red deer enclosure. The in-house beer is one of the characteristic features of the Dult and makes it a local patriotic event par excellence.
The main venue is the Bierstadl – a traditional festival tent/hall building on Burgkirchener Straße, renovated a few years ago. Unlike the mass-produced festival tents of large folk festivals, the Bierstadl focuses on cosiness, a cultivated inn atmosphere, and live folk music. In warm summer weather, the Tüßling summer evenings in front of the Stadl become an open-air beer garden stage.
In addition to the festival tent with live music, the classic program points of a Bavarian Dult are included: a traditional costume parade on the opening Sunday, a market with stalls for household goods, traditional costumes, sweets, and games, a small amusement park for children and young people, and a farmers' market with direct marketers from the Inn-Salzach region. Sunday is usually family day with reduced prices.
Tüßling is located between Mühldorf am Inn, Altötting (pilgrimage site with the Black Madonna), and Burghausen (with the longest castle complex in Europe). Visitors to the Dult can extend their weekend with excursions to these sights. The Inn-Salzach tourism region (innsalzach.com) prominently features the Dult in its event calendar.
The Tüßlinger Dult 2026 runs from Saturday, June 13th, to Sunday, June 21st – nine festival days in a tradition stretching back over 640 years. The Bierstadl on Burgkirchener Straße – recently renovated – forms the centrepiece.
The festival beer traditionally comes from the Bräu im Moos brewery, run by the Münch family for five generations since 1870. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Markt Tüßling before the festival begins on tuessling.de, but it follows the classic schedule of a Bavarian Dult: opening beer tapping on the first day, costume parade on Sunday, market stalls throughout the Dult, family day with reduced prices, and the festival finale on the last Sunday.
