Garden Culture in a Renaissance Park
The Gartentage at Schloss Tüßling have been held annually in early July since 2004 in the park of Tüßling Castle in the Lower Bavarian district of Altötting, Bavaria. They are organized by Lohde Veranstaltungs-GmbH, which specializes in high-quality garden fairs at historic venues. Schloss Tüßling – a Renaissance complex with a charming castle park, pond, and linden avenue – provides the ideal backdrop for a festival that combines plants, garden and landscape design, living, and lifestyle.
More Than 180 Exhibitors
During the three festival days, the park transforms into a curated stage for around 180 exhibitors in the fields of plants and perennials, garden and landscape design, garden and home accessories, garden furniture, tools, ceramics, sculptures, art, and woodwork. The exhibitors are carefully selected, which has earned the Gartentage a reputation as a quality fair beyond Bavaria's borders.
Program Centered Around Plants
The market section is complemented by a diverse supporting program: expert lectures on topics such as soil care, plant selection, and sustainable gardening, workshops for hobby gardeners, children's activities with planting schools, and concerts on the castle terrace featuring classical and acoustic music.
Gourmet Mile and Sustainable Commitment
A gastronomic mile with about 15 selected stalls caters to culinary delights: regional products, organic specialties, cakes and coffee, non-alcoholic summer drinks, and Bavarian and Austrian cuisine – Tüßling is only about 30 kilometers from Salzburg. The organizers emphasize a sustainable approach, promoting the avoidance of single-use plastics through reusable 'Gartentage bags' made of Fairtrade organic cotton.
Three Days, 30,000 Visitors
With around 30,000 visitors per event, the Gartentage at Schloss Tüßling are among the largest garden fairs in Southern Germany. The Lohde event group also offers similar garden days in May and September at other castles in southern Germany – however, Tüßling in early July marks the highlight of the season.
