43 Years of Art Week

The Neuenburg Art Week is one of the oldest artists' symposia in Northern Germany. It has been held in Zetel since 1984 and has established itself as an important venue for contemporary art in rural areas. Over four decades of tradition have made the Art Week a brand that is firmly anchored in the Lower Saxony art scene.

Theme 2026: Textile and Fabric

Each year, the Art Week is dedicated to a different theme that serves as a starting point for the participating artists. In 2026, the motto is Textile and Fabric. This puts a material in the spotlight that has experienced a remarkable renaissance in contemporary art in recent years: from thread to installation, from fabric to sculpture, from weave to performance.

Open Studios at the Rauchkatengelände

The five artists work in open studios at the Rauchkatengelände, a historic site near Neuenburg Castle. Visitors can follow the creative process directly, talk to the artists, and thus gain a unique insight into contemporary art production.

Closing Event on August 30th

On Sunday, August 30th, starting at 11 am, the grand closing event will take place: the works created during the week will be presented, the artists will introduce their works, and a supporting program of lectures, performances, and concerts will round off the event.

Neuenburg Castle as a Backdrop

The neighboring Neuenburg Castle lends historical depth to the Art Week. The combination of historic architecture and contemporary art is what makes it so special.
