Röntgen-Classic — Homage to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen

The name is a tribute to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, the physicist born in Remscheid-Lennep and the first Nobel laureate in Physics. The Röntgen-Classic is the traditional classic car rally of the Bergisches Land, organized by the association KultTimer-BergischLand e.V. It celebrates its 26th edition from May 8th and 9th, 2026 — and is one of the most important classic car events in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Program — Two Days in the Bergisches Land

Friday, May 8th, 2026 — Welcome Evening

On the eve of the actual competition day, the official welcome takes place on the Alter Markt in the old town of Lennep. Participants meet, present their vehicles in the historic setting of Lennep, exchange stories, and enjoy the picturesque atmosphere. For the public, it's a first opportunity to admire the historic cars up close.

Saturday, May 9th, 2026 — Rally Day

The official start is at 9:01 AM (precisely one minute past the hour, a classic rally detail) at Volksbank Tenter Weg in Lennep. Around 100 vehicles set off on the approximately 200 km long route. The route leads via:

• Hückeswagen — a small Bergisches town with a castle
• Bevertalsperre — a scenic highlight of the Bergisches
• Neyetalsperre — one of the most beautiful water reservoirs in the region
• Wipperfürth — the oldest town in the Bergisches

Along the route, stage controls, regularity tests, and breaks alternate. In the late afternoon, the cars return to Lennep — the end of the day in the old town.

Vehicles Built Before 1986

Eligible to participate are classic vehicles built before 1986. This includes pre-war cars, 1950s sedans, 1960s sports cars, 1970s convertibles, and early 1980s youngtimers. A mix of brands: many German classics (Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, VW), Italian sports cars (Alfa, Fiat), French elegance (Citroën DS, Peugeot 504), and British roadsters (MG, Jaguar) shape the field.

Bergisches Land — Home of the Rally

The Bergisches Land, with its dams, winding country roads, and small half-timbered towns, is one of Germany's most beautiful classic car regions. The Röntgen-Classic uses this topography for a route that combines challenge, enjoyment, and sights. Lennep, as the start and finish location, offers a historic backdrop — the cloister church, the Alter Markt, and the slate-roofed burgher houses turn the rally event into a town festival.
