Autumn farmers' and craft market in Lüttringhauser Dorp – with Sunday shopping and pumpkin highlight
The Lüttringhauser Herbst- und Bauernmarkt is one of the most beautiful small autumn festivals in the Bergisches Land. Organized by Marketingrat Lüttringhausen e.V., an association of retailers, craftspeople, service providers, and private individuals, it takes place every year at the end of September in the historic Lüttringhauser Dorp behind the old town hall. The small-scale half-timbered structure of the Dorp provides the ideal backdrop for a market that consciously focuses on regional producers and crafts.
In 2026, the market opens on Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In parallel, retailers in the district center will open their doors from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM – one of the important Sundays with open shops in Remscheid. This combination regularly draws several thousand visitors from Remscheid, Wuppertal, Solingen, and the Bergisches Land into the district.
The offerings are deliberately regional:
Lüttringhausen is a district in the north of Remscheid (Bergisches Land, North Rhine-Westphalia). Until 1929, it was an independent town; since then, it has belonged to Remscheid but has retained its village identity. The Lüttringhauser Dorp with its half-timbered houses, the old town hall, and the Lüttringhauser Christuskirche is the anchor of a lively community. The Marketingrat Lüttringhausen organizes several events throughout the year – the autumn and farmers' market is the most important alongside spring and Christmas events.
The combination with the Sunday with open shops is strategically chosen: Visitors can combine their market visit with a shopping spree in the local stores. Clothing, books, home decor, sweets, and cafés all benefit from the crowds. For many residents of Lüttringhausen, the market is also a meeting place – you meet neighbors, club members, and local politicians in a relaxed Sunday setting.
Remscheid (around 110,000 inhabitants) is located in the Düsseldorf administrative district in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is known for its tool industry, the Müngsten Bridge (Germany's highest railway bridge), and its mix of districts with their own character. Lüttringhausen is one of these districts – and the autumn and farmers' market is one of the best times to get to know the district.
In 2026, Lüttringhauser Dorp will once again transform into an autumnal market mile on Sunday, September 27. The organizer is Marketingrat Lüttringhausen e.V., which has been bringing together regional producers and craftspeople for years. The parallel Sunday shopping (1 PM–6 PM) makes the date doubly attractive.
The program will be supplemented by Marketingrat with detailed times (live music, children's activities) in late summer.
