Lower Bavarian Festival Culture
The Veldener Volksfest is one of the most famous Volksfeste in Lower Bavaria and the grand festival of the market town of Velden in the district of Landshut. For around eleven days, the festival grounds are transformed into a "Wiesn" (a Bavarian-style beer garden festival) with a heated festival tent, characteristic Veldener Festbier, an attractive amusement park with rides, as well as wine and wheat beer stands.
Tradition and Highlights
The festival opens with the ceremonial beer tapping in the market square and a parade led by the Veldener Blaskapelle. Fixed program points include the Veldener Wiesnmadl election, the Dirndl and traditional costume meeting on Corpus Christi, and the concluding political evening with prominent guests from the state and federal government. The final Sunday features horse races and live performances.
Festival Host and Beer
The festival host is Markus Böckl, who manages the main tent and the wheat beer hut; the beer is supplied by the Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei. Special days – Opening Friday, Officials' Day, Clubs' Day, and Business Day – add special accents during the eleven festival days.

The market town of Velden is located on the Vils river in the district of Landshut in Lower Bavaria, Bavaria. The Volksfest is deeply embedded in the life of the town and surrounding communities and is considered the social highlight of the year.
Volksfest Velden — edition 2026
The 63rd Veldener Volksfest 2026 will be celebrated from May 29 to June 8 on the Velden festival grounds. The host is Markus Böckl, who manages the main tent and the wheat beer hut; the beer is supplied by the Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei. The patron is the new District Administrator Alfred Holzner.
The event offers festival tent operations, an amusement park with rides, wine and wheat beer stands, and a varied music and entertainment program over eleven festival days.
