51st edition of the big Lake Constance lakeside festival in Langenargen — four days of promenade festival with Schloss Montfort as a backdrop, sound fireworks, and jousting on boats
The Uferfest Langenargen is one of the most traditional and most visited summer festivals on Lake Constance. For over fifty years, it has taken place on the first weekend of the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays — thus from July 31 to August 3, 2026. The venue is the lakeside promenade along the shore of Lake Constance, with the fairytale-like Schloss Montfort right on the lake as an unforgettable backdrop.
Four days of festival with a clearly structured program:
The sound fireworks on Saturday evening are famous beyond the region: aerial fireworks are fired in synchronization with a musical composition, while light installations on the shore and at Schloss Montfort enhance the spectacle. From a boat or from the lake shore with a clear view of the lake, a 20–30 minute show unfolds, which is among the largest fireworks displays on Lake Constance. The reflection of the fireworks on the lake surface and the acoustic amplification by the open water make the spectacle special.
The Fischerstechen on Sunday at 5 p.m. is a tradition that has been maintained in the Lake Constance communities for centuries. Two fishermen or boat racers stand on a platform at the stern of two boats, which slowly approach each other. With long, padded lances, they try to push the opponent into the water. The competition runs as a knockout tournament — and is both sport and spectacle. The audience on the shore cheers along.
Schloss Montfort, located directly on the shore of Lake Constance, is Langenargen's landmark. The current building was erected in 1861 by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg in the Moorish style — he wanted to create a "neo-oriental" architecture on Lake Constance. Today, the castle stands as a restaurant and event venue on the shore; during the Uferfest, its silhouette with the characteristic arches and towers forms the permanent background for every photo.
Langenargen is located in the Bodenseekreis district on the northern shore of Lake Constance, between Friedrichshafen and Lindau. With just under 8,000 inhabitants, it is a typical Lake Constance town: a long promenade, a yacht harbor, a castle, small shops, many cafés and restaurants along the shore, vineyards (the Württemberg Lake Constance wine region begins here), and apple orchards in the hinterland. In summer, the population triples due to tourists — the Uferfest is the highlight of the season.
The 51st edition continues the festival's decades-long tradition. Over the four days, the established program strands unfold: catering at the stalls of over 20 local clubs, a stage program with local and national bands, children's and family activities in the playground area, the spectacular sound fireworks on Saturday evening, and the traditional Fischerstechen on Sunday.
The detailed program with bands and exact times will be published in July 2026 on tourismus-langenargen.de. Schloss Montfort will remain partially accessible during the festival.
Free admission. Food and drinks at the club stalls at typical summer festival prices: draft beer €4, wine by the glass €3–€5, main courses €8–€14, ice cream €2–€4. Lake Constance shipping offers special sound fireworks cruises on Saturday evening — tickets via bsb.de or at the harbor.
By train: Langenargen station, then a 10-minute walk to the shore. By car via the B31, park in the outer parking areas with a shuttle bus or on foot. By boat: Lake Constance shipping to Langenargen harbor, with increased services on weekends.
Free admission. Food and drinks at the club stalls at typical festival prices.
Plan your spot for the sound fireworks on Saturday — either on the lakeside promenade (free, but crowded), on a boat (Lake Constance shipping offers special sound fireworks cruises), or on the meadow above the castle. If you want to see the Fischerstechen on Sunday at 5 p.m., be at the harbor by 4:30 p.m. to secure a good spot.
