Annual charity hike from Prenzlau through the Uckermark — 16, 31, or 53 km for a good cause
The Uckermark, with 3,058 km², is one of Germany's largest districts and one of the least densely populated regions in the Federal Republic. The landscape — rolling terminal moraine hills, over 600 lakes, large beech and mixed forests, fields, and small villages — is pure Brandenburg nature. Prenzlau is the district town with around 18,000 inhabitants and is located on the Unteruckersee, one of the largest lakes in the region. The UckerMarsch starts here every year.
The UckerMarsch has been established as a charity hiking event, combining sporting challenge with concrete donation commitment. The organizer is the voluntary UckerMarsch team from the region. The concept: Participants pay an entry fee, which, after deducting organizational costs, is entirely donated to non-profit associations and organizations in the Uckermark. The beneficiaries are chosen anew each year — in 2026, there are four recipients, each receiving €1,000.
The beginner's route for families, hiking novices, and walkers. Start times: 11:30 AM, 12:00 PM, or 12:30 PM. Half-day tour through the hills directly around Prenzlau, with views of the Unteruckersee.
The day tour for ambitious hikers. Start times: 9:30 AM or 10:00 AM. Leads through forests, along lakes, and over the terminal moraine hills of the Uckermark.
The major day achievement. Start time: 7:00 AM. A true endurance challenge that requires a good level of training. Several refreshment stops along the way (with the legendary bananas, which according to the organizers are "gone faster than the starting spots").
The 2026 edition distributes €1,000 each to four regional recipients: Templiner Tierschutzverein e.V., Jugendfeuerwehr Naugarten und Freunde e.V., Schulförderverein Grundschule 4 Prenzlau e.V., NCL-Stiftung. This makes the donation structure transparent: every participant knows what they are walking for.
Registration for 2026 already started on December 1st, 2025. As every year, starting spots were gone within a few days. Those who want to participate in 2027 should mark December 1st, 2026, 6 PM on their calendar. Overnight stays at the Sonnenkap campsite are possible, along with catering before and after the march.
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the 2026 edition of the UckerMarsch will take place. The starting point for all three routes is the Sonnenkap campsite at Uckerpromenade 85 in Prenzlau.
