Spring Festival with Dutch Soul
In the heart of Potsdam lies the Dutch Quarter—a contiguous ensemble of 134 two-story brick houses in the typical Dutch style, built between 1733 and 1742 for Dutch craftsmen by the Soldier King Frederick William I. Today, the quarter, with its galleries, cafés, and artisan workshops, is a tourist hotspot in Brandenburg's state capital—and once a year, it celebrates its Dutch roots with the Tulip Festival.
24th Edition on April 18–19, 2026
The 24th edition will take place on the weekend of April 18 and 19, 2026. On Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM, Mittelstraße will transform into a Dutch spring market with thousands of freshly planted and arranged tulips in all colors.
What to Expect
- Thousands of tulips as floral arrangements throughout the quarter
- Dutch traditional costumes and folklore groups
- Live music from Dutch bands and barrel organs
- Craft market with clog makers, textile artists, ceramics, jewelry
- Dutch specialties: Poffertjes, Matjes, Gouda, Stroopwafels
- Children's program with hands-on activities
Culture and Economic Promotion
In 2020, the Tulip Festival was returned to the hands of its original initiators—the COEX agency and the association for the promotion of Dutch culture. Both organizers see the festival not only as a tourist event but also as a bridge between Germany and the Netherlands and as economic promotion for the local traders and artisan workshops in the quarter.
Insider Tip
If you want to avoid crowds, come on Sunday morning: you can get fresh Poffertjes without a queue and stroll leisurely through the seas of tulips. The quarter is busiest on Saturday afternoon.
