About Tübinger Erbe-Lauf
Tübinger Erbe-Lauf — edition 2026
Tübinger Erbe-Lauf 2026 — September 20
On the third Sunday of Tübingen's autumn, the Erbe-Lauf 2026 runs through a festive and crowded old town — the Umbrian-Provençal Market is in its final day and the alleys are full of Italian, French, and Tübingen exhibitors. LAV Stadtwerke Tübingen has been organizing the run for years as an annual highlight event of the Tübingen running scene.
The 10 km main distance consists of three laps through the old town and over the Schlossberg saddle. The start and finish are at the Neue Aula — right in the center of the university city. Shorter distances and the BG Handbike Challenge start at the same time or staggered.

The Tübinger Erbe-Lauf — City Run with a Special Heritage
The Tübinger Erbe-Lauf is Tübingen's established city center run. It owes its name to the medieval citizenship that the city passed down to its sons and daughters — and to the idea that exercise, running together, and experiencing the city are a living heritage today. The run is organized by LAV Stadtwerke Tübingen (Athletics Club Tübingen) and is integrated into one of Tübingen's most charming event days: the final Sunday of the Umbrian-Provençal Market, which has brought Italian and French exhibitors to the old town annually for decades.
Courses and Formats 2026
Five distances are available, depending on skill and age:
- 10 km — the main course: three laps through the old town, with start and finish at the Neue Aula
- 5 km — the shorter option on the same old town course
- Junior Run — for children and teenagers (various age groups)
- Team Challenge — team classification over the 10 km course
- BG Handbike Challenge — separate classification for handbike athletes (BG Klinikum Tübingen)
The course leads through the alleys around the Marktplatz, past the Hölderlinturm, the Stiftskirche, and along the Neckarfront. Three laps make up the 10 km — a city tour with constant changes in inclines, cobblestones, narrow old town alleys, and cheers from the market crowd. It is not a classic city marathon, but an experience-oriented city run.
Registration and Preparation
Online registration is available at tuebinger-erbe-lauf.de. Registration deadline for the regular rate: September 6, 2026; late registrations are possible up to 2 hours before the respective start signal (additional fee). Tübingen — University and City of Life on the Neckar
Tübingen (approx. 91,000 inhabitants, Tübingen district, administrative district 08416) is one of Germany's oldest university cities (founded in 1477). The old town between the Neckar and Schlossberg is almost perfectly preserved: cobblestone alleys, half-timbered houses, the Hölderlinturm, and the famous Neckarfront with its colorful burgher houses. With over 28,000 students, Tübingen is a young, sport-active city — the Erbe-Lauf fits this profile and is one of the most popular events to experience Tübingen through sports.
