Schlosshofkonzerte — edition 2026

Hohentübingen Castle as a Summer Stage
Hohentübingen Castle, one of Baden-Württemberg's best-preserved Renaissance castles, towers above Tübingen's Old Town on the Neckar. Today, it houses the cultural studies collections of Eberhard Karls University, including the Red Pavilion with the famous 40,000-year-old mammoth ivory horse from Vogelherd. In summer, the historic castle courtyard opens up for five evenings at the end of July and beginning of August to become an open-air stage — the Schlosshofkonzerte, a festival that invites the residents of Tübingen's Old Town to a festive summer of concerts each year.
Five Evenings, Five Worlds
The 2026 program is deliberately broad, combining classical concerts with pop, chanson, and musical. Each evening has its own character, and the castle courtyard offers the unique acoustics of historic courtyard architecture under the open sky.

A Story of Commitment
The Tübingen Schlosshofkonzerte in 2026 are under a special star. Due to municipal budget cuts, the concert format was temporarily threatened with cancellation. An exceptionally generous private donation from a Tübingen patron made the 2026 edition possible — a commitment to the cultural identity of the university town that has resonated in the local press. Previous editions had already set visitor records, and the bond between the festival and the Tübingen audience has grown strong over the years.
Tübingen as a Concert City
Anyone visiting the Schlosshofkonzerte should spend the day in Tübingen's Old Town: Hölderlinturm on the Neckar, the market square with the town hall, the former Stiftskirchengasse, a stroll through the small alleys on the Schlossberg. Punt trips on the Neckar, university tours, and the Hesse Cabinet on the market square complete a day of culture in Tübingen.
