Tröstau Kirchweih

About Kirchweih Tröstau
Kirchweih Tröstau — edition 2026
The Tröstau Kirchweih 2026 follows the traditional schedule: it begins with the festive church service in the Christuskirche and continues at the market square with offerings from local clubs. The shooting club, fire department club, and sports club organize the secular part of the festival.
With brass music, Schäuferla, and beer from the Fichtelgebirge, the typical Upper Franconian-Upper Palatinate atmosphere is created, passed down through generations in this small community at the foot of the Kösseine. It is a festival day in the classic, non-commercialized sense.

Kirchweih in the Fichtelgebirge
The Kirchweih (often called "Kerwa" or "Kirta" in the region) is one of the most important festival days of the year in the Upper Franconian-Upper Palatinate mixed area of the Fichtelgebirge. It dates back to the consecration of the local church and is traditionally celebrated with a church service, a festive procession, dancing, and a richly laid table. In Tröstau, located between Wunsiedel, Marktredwitz, and Weißenstadt, the customs are kept alive.
The Christuskirche as the Centerpiece
The centerpiece of the Kirchweih day is the festive church service in the Christuskirche Tröstau at 9:30 AM. The Evangelical Lutheran church is the landmark of the town and is centrally located in the village center. After the service, the festivities move from the church to the market square and the surrounding inns.
Club Life at the Market
Local clubs present themselves at the market square: the shooting club, the fire department club, the sports club, and the singing club set up stalls, providing food, drinks, and children's entertainment. Brass bands from the Fichtelgebirge play on a small stage. The atmosphere is familiar and manageable — a real village Kirchweih without tourist over-commercialization.
Tröstau between Kösseine and Schneeberg
The municipality of Tröstau belongs to the Wunsiedel district in the Fichtelgebirge. With just under 2,000 inhabitants, it is a typical Fichtelgebirge market town situated between the mountains Kösseine, Schneeberg, and Ochsenkopf. Tröstau is also a member of the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park region and a starting point for hikes — the hiking day often combines with the festive walk to the local inns during Kirchweih.
Culinary Delights: Upper Franconian-Bavarian
Kirchweih wouldn't be complete without Bratwurst, Schäufele, Schweinsbraten, Klöße, and Kraut. In Tröstau, the Upper Franconian Schäuferla (a specially prepared pork shoulder) is also traditionally served, accompanied by beer from the breweries of the Fichtelgebirge. For sweets: Kerwaplatz (yeast dough pastry), Streuselkuchen (crumb cake), Krapfen (doughnuts).
