Four days of Volksfest in the Dreiburgenland of the Bavarian Forest
The Tittlinger Volksfest is one of the traditional Volksfests in Lower Bavaria. For four days, from Friday to Monday, the market square in Tittling transforms into a Volksfest grounds with a classic repertoire: festival tent, amusement rides, snack and sweet stalls. The date August 28–31, 2026, has been confirmed by the official announcement of the Tittling administrative community.
The festival traditionally opens on Friday at 5 pm with a colorful parade. Clubs, traditional costume groups, floats, and the Tittling brass band march from the festival grounds through the town. Sunday is dedicated to the Kirta — the Lower Bavarian word for "Kirchweih" (church consecration festival) — which begins at 8 am on the market square with market stalls, traditional costumes, and music.
Tittling is a market town with around 4,300 inhabitants in the Passau district, Lower Bavaria administrative region, Bavaria state. The town is located in the Dreiburgenland, a culturally unique region surrounding the three medieval castles of Englburg, Saldenburg, and Fürstenstein. Tittling is also a tourist gateway to the southern Bavarian Forest — the distinctive peaks of Brotjacklriegel and Dreisesselberg are visible. The Tittlinger Volksfest benefits from this location: it brings together families from the Passau region, hikers from the Bavarian Forest, and festival-goers from Lower Bavaria.
The program follows the classic Lower Bavarian Volksfest schedule: opening on Friday with the tapping of the first keg and parade, festival operations on Saturday and Sunday, a family and club day on Sunday with Kirta, and winding down on Monday evening with the last hours in the festival tent. The festival tent offers family-sized seating, and the amusement rides cater to all age groups — from the children's carousel to the roller coaster.
The date August 28–31, 2026, has been confirmed by the official announcement of the Tittling administrative community — vendor registration applications, with a deadline of December 15, 2025, have been underway since late 2025.
The program follows the well-established course over the years: opening on Friday afternoon, festival operations throughout the weekend, with the Kirta on Sunday as a highlight with market stalls and a family program. Full program details will be published shortly before the festival via the Tittling Administrative Community and the local press.
