A Village, a Fire Brigade, 150 Years of Tradition
In the summer of 2026, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Niederperlesreut will celebrate its 150th birthday. The founding festival on June 12th and 13th brings together what belongs together in a Lower Bavarian village: tradition, customs, brass band music, beer, a joint service — and above all, the neighboring associations and friendly fire brigades from the entire region.
Niederperlesreut — Village in the Ilz Land
Niederperlesreut is a district of the state-recognized recreational community of Perlesreut, located in the Ilz Land in the Freyung-Grafenau district in Lower Bavaria. The market town of Perlesreut has around 2,800 inhabitants and lies between the Ilz and Ohe river valleys at an altitude of 380 to 637 meters — the Bavarian Forest in its most beautiful form. Perlesreut bears the predicate "Golddorf" (Golden Village) and is considered a popular starting point for hikes in the Bavarian Forest.
Festival Weekend on the Festival Grounds
The founding festival will take place over two days on the Niederperlesreut festival grounds. A festive church service, specially prepared for the anniversary, is announced for June 13th — the exact time will be communicated via the community website shortly before the festival. As is customary for Bavarian fire brigade anniversaries, the program includes a parade, Frühschoppen (morning pint), a festive evening, stand concerts, and the ceremonial welcome of the patron associations.
Bavarian Forest — The Region Around
Anyone coming to the founding festival should combine it with a stay in the Bavarian Forest. Perlesreut offers 70 km of well-maintained hiking trails with views of the Bavarian Forest mountains, the included outdoor pool Ilztalperle, the parish church of St. Andreas, and the Passion Plays. The city of Passau, the Bavarian Forest National Park, and the monastery town of Niederalteich are reachable in half an hour.

Perlesreut is located in the Freyung-Grafenau district, easily accessible from the A3 via Passau (approx. 45 minutes), about 90 minutes from Regensburg. Train travelers should go to Passau Hbf and take a bus or taxi from there.
