Four-day club and folk festival for St. John's Day at the Röhrnbach festival grounds
The Röhrnbach Johannifest is one of the largest and most traditional club festivals in the southern Bavarian Forest. It is supported not by one, but by four clubs together:
Thus, the festival unites the different branches of Röhrnbach's club life under one festival tent roof. The venue is the Röhrnbach festival grounds, which become the hub for the entire market community for the weekend.
The name refers to Johannistag (St. John's Day), the feast of St. John the Baptist on June 24th. In Lower Bavaria, a predominantly Catholic region, this day was a high festival for centuries, with parish services, solstice bonfires, and festive evenings. The Johannifest in Röhrnbach has translated this tradition into a modern club festival: on the weekend around St. John's Day, the festival tent opens, the Market Band plays, the SKV participates with a festive march and delegation, and the Riding and Driving Club contributes its equestrian element.
The choreography follows the Lower Bavarian four-day model:
The market town of Röhrnbach is located in the Freyung-Grafenau district (Bavarian Forest, Lower Bavaria), between Passau and Freyung. With just under 4,000 inhabitants, Röhrnbach is not a tourist hub, but rather a classic East Bavarian market town with an active club structure. The Johannifest has been a fixture in the market's event calendar for years and is also communicated through regional platforms such as MuW-Nachrichten, Waidler.com, and roehrnbach-bayerischer-wald.de.
The event calendar of the market town of Röhrnbach confirms the date of June 19th–22nd, 2026, at the festival grounds. The supporting clubs are the four traditionally participating Röhrnbach clubs. Programmatically, the weekend follows the proven four-day choreography with the opening on Friday (incl. SKV's festive march) and the festival winding down on Monday.
The exact hourly programs – festival band for each evening, time of the festive church service, Riding and Driving Club's performance – will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on marktroehrnbach.de and via the Lower Bavarian event portals (Waidler.com, bayerischer-wald.de).
Detailed daily program will be published via marktroehrnbach.de and regional event calendars.
