Metal in the Stadthalle Hagen

The Till Death Fest at the Stadthalle Hagen is one of the few fixed Metal and Rock festivals in the southern Ruhr area. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the next edition will take place — starting at 6:00 PM. The festival utilizes the excellent acoustics of the Stadthalle (one of Westphalia's most traditional concert halls) for an intense indoor festival experience. The Stadthalle is located in Hagen-Mitte at the address Wasserloses Tal 2 and has been an important venue for Metal, Hard Rock, and tour concerts in NRW for decades.

Congress and Event Park

The Stadthalle is officially the Kongress- und Eventpark Stadthalle Hagen — a larger complex building with several halls. The main hall, with over 1,500 seats plus standing room, can accommodate various concert formats depending on the configuration. For Metal festivals, a standing-room-only main configuration is typically used, allowing for a dense band atmosphere.

Hagen as a Music City

Hagen has a special musical tradition: The city was the birthplace of the Hagen Connection in the 1980s — bands like Extrabreit, Nena (partially), and The Boots shaped the city as a Punk and New Wave hub. This musical DNA lives on — Hagen has active underground scenes for Metal, Hardcore, and Indie.

Hagen is an independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia with approximately 188,000 inhabitants, located on the southern edge of the Ruhr area, where the Lenne, Volme, and Ennepe rivers converge and the Ruhr begins. Characterized by its industrial history (steel, mechanical engineering), the FernUniversität in Hagen (Germany's only state distance learning university), and its musical past. Several concert venues make Hagen a main stage for tours stopping in the southern Ruhr area.
