Open-Air Theatre Festival for Children and Families in Hermsdorf
The Bühnenfüchse Reinickendorf are a spin-off of KinderMusikTheater e.V., which specialises in performances for children aged 3 and up in Berlin. Throughout the year, performances take place in schools, kindergartens, and small venues. Once a summer — at the end of June — the ensemble leaves the indoor stages and opens up for an open-air theatre festival: Theaterzauber — Bühnenfüchse Theaterfest.
The venue is the forecourt of the Apostel-Paulus Church at Wachsmuthstraße 25, in the middle of Hermsdorf — one of the quietest districts of Reinickendorf, with single-family homes, school facilities, and the forest around Hermsdorf Lake. The festival uses this traffic-calmed residential area as an open-air stage — buggy parking spaces right next door, no car pressure, an almost rural atmosphere.
The 2026 programme ranges from comedy (Tur Tur Theater) to mask theatre (Theatre Fragile, which works with cardboard boxes as animals and castles) and dance (two dancers with a rolling box) to the Berlin children's flamenco group and a concluding family concert with Richards Kindermusikladen. There will also be soap bubble stations, small theatre workshops, and simple refreshments.
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the Bühnenfüchse's Theaterzauber festival will take place on the forecourt of the Apostel-Paulus Church in Berlin-Hermsdorf. Four programme items on the hour, suitable for children aged 3 and up, will give the summer day an open-air theatre festival format. Free admission. Funding is provided by the KiA programme of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture.
