Reinickendorf Runs

For over two decades, the BORSIG Half Marathon has been the most important sporting event in the Reinickendorf district. Organized by the club LIR – Lauf in Reinickendorf, formerly known under the sponsor name Mercedes-Benz Half Marathon Berlin, the race is now supported by Borsig, a Reinickendorf industrial institution. The City of Reinickendorf, the district office, and over a hundred volunteers support the event on race day.

Courses for All Levels

In 2026, there will be a Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km, 4x5 km relay, and Kids' Runs (1.4 km and 2.8 km). The main course leads from Reinickendorf Town Hall on Eichborndamm in a 5.27 km loop, which will be completed four times – a new format without curbs or bridges, replacing the old course in 2026 due to the parallel renovation of the U6 subway line. This simplified course design is particularly suitable for first-time runners.

Reinickendorf – Industrial Berlin

Those who only know Reinickendorf from the former Tegel Airport overlook that the district has its own industrial identity. The Borsig works on the Tegeler See bay have been producing locomotives, boilers, and steam engines since the 19th century – their brand name shapes the district to this day. Reinickendorf Town Hall, where the run starts, is a typical district town hall from the 1930s, made of red brick, monumental, without false modesty.

Volkslauf Atmosphere

With nearly 2,000 participants, the BORSIG Half Marathon is small enough to retain its Volkslauf character: families cheer with drums along the course, Reinickendorf clubs provide water and bananas, and the supporting program around the Town Hall offers live music and food stalls. The award ceremony takes place in the late morning – early enough not to disrupt the rest of the Sunday.
