Neighbourhood festival in the Gorkistraße pedestrian zone
Tegel — the northwestern district in Reinickendorf — is home to Tegel Airport (closed 2020), Lake Tegel, the Reinickendorf School for Aviation Anthropology, and the popular Gorkistraße pedestrian zone. This very pedestrian zone becomes a festival area for three days in the summer: the Tegeler Sommer, one of the most established Berlin neighbourhood festivals outside the S-Bahn ring.
The Tegeler Sommer follows the classic Berlin neighbourhood festival format: closed street, stages along the pedestrian zone, food trucks and snack stands with international street food, a beer stand with Berlin breweries (Berliner Pilsner, Berliner Kindl, Schultheiss). Family highlights: children's carousel, wheel of fortune, face painting. The live music plays on several stages — cover bands, local Berlin acts, popular mainstream genres.
Reinickendorf, with its districts Tegel, Borsigwalde, Reinickendorf-Ortsteil, Wittenau, Heiligensee, Frohnau, and Märkisches Viertel, is a diverse outer district of Berlin. Industrial heritage (Borsig-Werke), large housing estates (Märkisches Viertel), and villa districts (Frohnau, Heiligensee) alternate. The Tegeler Sommer is one of the few neighbourhood festivals that appeals to the entire district across district boundaries — residents from all over northern Berlin come to Gorkistraße. In 2026, Reinickendorf is also the partner district of the Fête de la Musique — the Tegeler Sommer coincides almost directly with the Fête and can be used as an extension of the district's music stages.
From Friday, June 20th, to Sunday, June 22nd, 2026, the Tegeler Sommer transforms the Gorkistraße pedestrian zone into a classic Berlin neighbourhood festival. Live music on several stages along the closed street, food trucks and snack stands with international street food, a beer stand with Berlin breweries, a children's carousel, and a wheel of fortune. Families from the Reinickendorf district and day visitors from Berlin use the festival as a relaxed summer weekend programme. Access via U-Bahn U6 or S-Bahn S25 (1–3 min walk to the festival area). Free admission.
According to organiser Jüttner Entertainment, the full 2026 programme will be published on hauptstadtkultur.berlin/tegeler-sommer and in a programme PDF before the festival. Key points:
