Tips
The market is located in the picturesque center of Frohnau – a walk through the garden city with its Art Nouveau villas is worthwhile. Card payment is often possible at the market stalls, but cash is also useful. Especially on Saturdays, it can get crowded around lunchtime – arrive early or later in the afternoon.
Garden City Frohnau as a Backdrop
Frohnau is Berlin's most famous garden city – a district founded in 1908 in the far northwest of the city (Reinickendorf district). The center with its distinctive Ludolfingerplatz and the Frohnau S-Bahn station forms the backdrop for the Kunst trifft Handwerk market, which has been held annually in autumn (and a sister edition in spring) since 2003.
Only Handmade Items
As with the other KUNSTHAND-BERLIN markets, a strict rule applies: only handmade items. No industrial goods, no licensed products, no pure resale items. Anyone wishing to participate in the market must have designed and, in most cases, produced their products themselves.
Over 100 Exhibitors
Around 100 exhibitors line the central paths in the center of Frohnau – including jewelry designers, painters, ceramicists, sculptors, textile artists, woodworkers, glass artists, and bookbinders. The range extends from established Berlin workshops to young designers presenting their products to a wide audience for the first time.
Tradition Since Autumn 2003
The series has existed since autumn 2003 and is one of Berlin's most enduring art and craft markets. The organizer is KUNSTHAND-BERLIN, managed by Cornelja Hasler. Admission is free; payment is made exclusively at the individual exhibitors' stalls.
