20th Edition – around 140 exhibitors in and around St. John's Church at Zeltinger Platz, December 5th and 6th, 2026
The Berlin district of Frohnau, in the far northwest of the Reinickendorf borough, is known as a historic garden city – laid out in the early 20th century based on English models, with Zeltinger Platz as its central hub around St. John's Church. It is precisely here that KUNSTHAND-BERLIN has been organizing one of Berlin's oldest craft markets for two decades every first Advent weekend: the Frohnau Artisanal Christmas Market.
In 2026, the event turns 20 years old. Around 140 exhibitors will be spread throughout the interior of St. John's Church, the community hall, and a tent village around Zeltinger Platz. Cornelja Hasler, founder and organizer, makes a personal selection each year: jewelry designers, ceramicists, textile artists, woodturners, glassblowers, leather artisans, and bookbinders. Mass-produced goods or imported items are explicitly excluded – this is the hallmark that sets the market apart from the usual Berlin mulled wine offerings.
While parents browse the stalls, a separate program runs for children: a classic puppet theatre (with several performances daily on the community hall stage), a fairytale room with readings from the Brothers Grimm's treasury of tales, and cookie baking with dough cutters, sprinkles, and icing. The format has proven successful for years – many Frohnau families return every year across multiple generations.
The market is located directly at the Frohnau S-Bahn station (terminus of the S1 line), making it easy to visit without a car. Mulled wine, tarte flambée, roasted almonds, and bratwurst provide refreshments. St. John's Church also offers classical concerts and services parallel to the market.
The 2026 anniversary edition continues the proven format: around 140 carefully curated exhibitors in and around St. John's Church, a tent village on Zeltinger Platz, mulled wine and bratwurst stands, and a dedicated children's program featuring puppet theatre, a fairytale room, and cookie baking. Organizer Cornelja Hasler (KUNSTHAND-BERLIN) brings together a new selection of exhibitors each year, setting the market apart from the usual mulled wine fare of downtown Berlin.
