Tradition since 1896
The Schützengesellschaft "Die Piedelpoggen" was founded in 1896, boasting a tradition of around 130 years. The name "Piedelpoggen" is a Low German term, giving the society a unique character. The society cultivates the marksmen's tradition, organises shooting events, and annually celebrates the grand Schützenfest, a fixed date in the Sulingen event calendar.
Bürgerpark as the Festival Venue
The Bürgerpark Sulingen provides the backdrop for the Schützenfest. The festival tent is erected here, and the king's banquet and dance evenings take place here. Its location in the park creates an atmospheric setting that distinguishes the festival from the often city-centre Schützenfeste of other towns.

In August, the weather is usually favourable, and the days are still long enough for the festive parade on Sunday to be enjoyed well into the evening.
