Tanz in den Mai — the tradition in Revierpark

April 30th, Walpurgis Night and the eve of the May Day holiday, has been the occasion for the biggest dance parties in Germany for generations. "Tanz in den Mai im Gysenberg" in Herne is the version for the central Ruhr area — and uses two locations in Revierpark Gysenberg, the sports hall and the event center. On Thursday, April 30, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM, organizer LM:V Events will play both halls with a joint ticket concept.

Gysenberg Sports Hall — Schlager and 80s/90s

In the Gysenberg Sports Hall (Am Revierpark 26), two renowned DJs will spin:

• Woody van Eyden — the Ruhr area veteran, known for his DJ set between classics and current Schlager
• DJ Rolli — specialist for 80s and 90s hits

The set is a mix of German Schlager classics, 80s disco-funk, and 90s Eurodance — the "Tanztempel" (dance temple) in Ruhr area style.

Gysenberg Event Center — Clubhouse and EDM

Right next door in the Gysenberg Event Center (Am Revierpark 40), contemporary electronic sounds dominate:

• DJ Carib — the Caribbean specialist in the Ruhr area with Latin House and tropical Clubhouse
• DJ Patrick FOX — EDM, Future House, Big Room

Here, the younger part of the audience will be catered to — with tight BPMs and a festival atmosphere.

One Ticket — Two Floors, One Evening

The concept is brilliantly simple: One ticket is valid for both locations. You can switch between the Schlager floor and the EDM floor, depending on your mood. The distance between the two halls is short — both are located in Revierpark Gysenberg, one of the largest local recreation areas in the Ruhr area, with its own parking and connections to public transport lines towards Bochum and Herne-Mitte.
