About Zurlauben Homeland Festival
For centuries, Zurlauben was Trier's fishing quarter. The rows of houses directly on the Moselle riverbank, now listed as historical monuments, bear witness to the modest, closely-knit way of life of Trier's Moselle fishermen. With the decline of professional fishing, Zurlauben increasingly became a residential area with a strong sense of identity. The Homeland Festival was first celebrated in 1957; since then, it has grown into one of Trier's most important district festivals, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually.
The festival grounds extend along the Zurlauben riverbank. Stages, food stalls, wine service, a festival tent, and amusement rides are arranged along the entire promenade. The musical program includes cover bands, rock classics, and regional acts such as Rock Diamonds, First Men On Mars, Backbeat, and 24th Frame. On Sunday evenings, the free Electronic River Festival has, for some years now, brought an electronic program focus to the riverbank, attracting a younger audience.
The traditional Anglerfeuerwerk over the Moselle is considered one of the most beautiful fireworks displays in West Germany. Thousands of visitors watch it from both banks of the Moselle, as well as from bridges and boats. Admission to the festival is free.

Highlights include the traditional Anglerfeuerwerk over the Moselle and the Electronic River Festival on Sunday, which has established itself in recent years as a magnet for a younger audience. The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
- Friday, July 10, 2026, from afternoon: Opening with tapping ceremony on the Zurlauben riverbank, first live bands on the main stage.
- Saturday, July 11, 2026: Daytime program with family activities, full program in the evening with live bands (Rock Diamonds, First Men On Mars, etc.).
- Sunday, July 12, 2026: Daytime program, followed by the Anglerfeuerwerk over the Moselle in the evening as a traditional highlight; afterwards, the free Electronic River Festival on the bank with DJ sets.
- Monday, July 13, 2026: Festival closing with live bands (Backbeat, 24th Frame).
- Festival Tent: All day.
- Catering: Wine, beer, bratwurst, potato pancakes, fish specialties as a nod to the fishing quarter tradition.
