Tag am Meer Festival
Electronic beach festival on the north beach of Prora
2026
About Tag am Meer
Tag am Meer — edition 2026
Ten Years of Tag am Meer
In 2026, the Tag am Meer Festival celebrates its 10th edition. Since 2013, the format has evolved from a small beach festival organized by the Landjugendverband MV into a festival for electronic music recognized beyond the region, without losing its familiar and authentic character.
The weekend is classically divided into two parts: On Friday evening (6 pm–11 pm), the Campsite Concert for camping guests opens the festival. On Saturday, the main program runs from 11 am until midnight – a long day with breaks, beach time, and several DJ sets running concurrently and consecutively.

A Festival with a Special Geography
If you associate Rügen with classic seaside resorts – Binz, Sellin, Göhren – you only know half the island. The other half begins north of Binz Ost station and is called Prora: a 4.5-kilometer-long building ensemble from the Nazi era, originally planned as a KdF seaside resort, never completed, and today in an ambivalent state between history, residential use, hotel operations, and wasteland. Precisely in between, on the Nordstrand (north beach) with its dune forest, stands the Jugendherberge Prora (Prora youth hostel) with an attached youth campsite – and this has been the location of the Tag am Meer Festival since 2013.
What Happens Here
Tag am Meer is not big, nor does it want to be. The festival operates with two floors on the grounds and a logic that oscillates between a quiet day and a long night. During the day – on Saturday from 11 am until early evening – the program runs in an open format: smaller DJ sets, sundowner sounds, Baltic Sea air, proximity to the beach. In the evening and at night, the program intensifies towards Techno, House, and Tech-House, with occasional Reggae and Soul interludes for variety. The genre spectrum is broad – Techno, House, Reggae, Deep House, Afro-House, Soul – but the DJ booking ensures a consistent line.
What Makes the Festival Special
- Beachfront Location — a few meters from the water, with the opportunity to swim during the day
- Camping Included — the youth campsite is part of the festival, your own sleeping space in your own tent
- Historical Backdrop — the Prora complex is part of the festival atmosphere; the contrast between monumental architecture and relaxed festival vibes shapes the experience
- Family Atmosphere — not a mass event for 20,000 people, but a manageable format with a high rate of return visitors
- 10th Edition in 2026 — anniversary year
The "Campsite Concert" on Friday
Those who book the festival ticket including camping begin the weekend on Friday evening with the Campsite Concert on the grounds, from 6 pm to 11 pm. A relaxed warm-up night where guests arrive, set up tents, and get in the mood for the main festival day on Saturday.
Organizers and Philosophy
The organizing association is the Landjugendverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V. – not a commercial festival agency, but a registered youth association. This shapes the format: deliberately non-commercial, with application processes for DJs and volunteers, an open community structure, and a commitment to authentic festival culture without mainstream logic. Those expecting a huge lineup with world-famous headliners are in the wrong place; those looking for a real beach festival with good music and camping are in the right place.
