Three days of festival at the pier of the Baltic Sea resort Binz
As the last August weekends arrive and the island of Rügen slowly bids farewell to the peak summer season, Binz invites you once again for a packed festival weekend. The Seebrückenfestival uses the town's landmark – the Binz Pier with its distinctive central tower – as both stage and backdrop. Three days of concerts, a dense children's program, local gastronomy, and on Saturday evening, a fireworks display over the Baltic Sea: this is the formula that has kept the festival running free of charge for years.
The festival is classically structured from Friday to Sunday. Friday opens relaxed in the early evening as beachgoers return to the promenade. Saturday is the main program day with the largest audience – featuring live music until 11 PM and the fireworks as the emotional climax late in the evening. Sunday concludes with a shorter family afternoon from 3 PM to 5 PM. Overall, the format is less like a classic open-air festival and more like a beach promenade festival with a festival character.
The fireworks display on Saturday evening is a spectacle that utilizes Binz's unique geography: the pyrotechnicians launch from the beach and the pier, so the clouds of sparks drift over the open water, with the light reflected in the Baltic Sea. The best viewing spots are the beach promenade before and after the pier, the beach section north of the central tower, and the cafés and hotel terraces with sea views (early reservation recommended).
Unlike the major pop and rock concerts at the Waldbühne Rügen, the Seebrückenfestival is a local beach festival: island residents come just as much as summer vacationers spending their last days in Binz. Families are explicitly welcome, the atmosphere is relaxed, and admission is free. For a day trip from elsewhere, Saturday evening with the fireworks is particularly worthwhile.
The Seebrückenfestival 2026 continues the proven three-day structure: two evening programs with concerts and entertainment, a shorter family afternoon on Sunday, and the fireworks display on Saturday evening as the emotional highlight.
Organizer Binzer Bucht Tourismus confirms the free admission conditions and the usual venue setup: main stage at the Kurplatz, additional stages along the beach promenade, market stalls, children's area, and beach bar atmosphere in the surrounding venues. The detailed lineup of performing music groups will be published soon on the festival website.
Band lists and exact stage times will be updated in the weeks before the festival via binzer-bucht.de.
Admission: completely free. Food, drinks, and market offerings at usual market prices. Mulled wine cups or reusable cups available for a deposit. No paid grandstands for the fireworks – the view from the promenade is equally good.
Train: ICE/RE to Ostseebad Binz, then a 5-minute walk to the beach promenade and the pier. Car: B96/B196 to Binz; on festival days, parking in the spa district is very limited – traveling by train is strongly recommended.
Free. Food and drinks at stall prices.
Best viewing spots: Beach promenade before and after the pier, beach north of the pier, terraces with sea views. For the optimal view, secure your spot early (1–2 hours before start).
