25th Anniversary Edition of Pforzheim's Largest City Run — New Start Point in 2026
Pforzheim is the "Goldstadt" (Gold City) on the northern edge of the Black Forest — with around 130,000 inhabitants, it is one of the larger medium-sized cities in Baden-Württemberg, known worldwide for its jewelry and watch industry. Pforzheim is an independent city and the seat of the district of the same name. Since 2002, the City Run has been the central running competition in the Gold City — and with over 1,000 to 3,000 participants annually, one of the larger city runs in northern Baden.
2026 marks the 25th edition of the SWP-CityLauf. Due to construction work in the traditional start area, Enzauenpark, the run has been relocated to a new site for 2026: to TG Pforzheim 88 at Heidenheimer Straße 11, on the Wilferdinger Höhe in the west of the city. The new course runs through western Pforzheim with views over the Enz valley and is slightly more undulating than the original Enzauenpark course.
The running program offers distances for all skill levels — from kindergarten age to marathon veterans:
1,001 to 3,000 participants are expected — comparable to other larger city runs in Baden-Württemberg. The atmosphere on race day is distinctly popular-sport oriented: live bands along the route, encouragement from schools, Pforzheim club stands with catering, award ceremonies, and a family day at the TG grounds after the run.
The organizer is the Badischer Leichtathletik-Verband (BLV), with organizational support from TG Pforzheim 88 as the host club. The main sponsor is Stadtwerke Pforzheim (SWP) — hence the name SWP-CityLauf. Additional sponsors include Südwest Presse (local newspaper) and other regional partners.
The 2026 anniversary edition combines a premiere with a tradition: the Pforzheim City Run will be held for the 25th time, but for the first time from a different starting point. Due to extensive construction work in the traditional Enzauenpark, the run will move to TG Pforzheim 88 on Wilferdinger Höhe for the 25th edition. A new, slightly undulating course will lead runners through western Pforzheim with views of the Enz valley.
