On June 26, 2026, the University of Hohenheim invites you to a special summer evening in the courtyard of Hohenheim Palace in Stuttgart: The Uni Hohenheim Bigband will perform its 10th-anniversary concert "Swing in the Air" in the East Courtyard of Hohenheim Palace. Jazz singer Fola Dada, winner of the German Jazz Prize 2022, is invited as a guest. From 7 PM to 9 PM, classics and new arrangements will swing under the open sky in the baroque palace park of the university campus in Plieningen.

10th Anniversary with Open-Air Concert

The University of Hohenheim Bigband celebrates its 10th anniversary with an open-air concert on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the East Courtyard of Hohenheim Palace. Jazz singer Fola Dada, a multiple award winner and holder of the German Jazz Prize since 2022, will be the musical guest on stage.

The program includes pieces from Fola Dada's personal favorite repertoire, specially arranged for the Hohenheim Bigband. The musical direction is by Samuel Restle, who was honored with the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize in 2025. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the Katharinasaal of the Euroforum (Kirchnerstr. 3).

Take the U3 subway line to the final stop Plieningen, then walk about 5 minutes to the palace entrance. By car, take the B 27 (exit Plieningen/Hohenheim), parking is available on campus.

Fola Dada as Guest Voice

Fola Dada, winner of the German Jazz Prize 2022 and one of Germany's most distinguished jazz singers, will be on stage as a prominent musical guest. With the Hohenheim Bigband, she will present pieces from her personal favorite repertoire, specially arranged for the evening; many of the numbers were previously performed with the SWR Bigband.

Samuel Restle, State Jazz Prize Winner 2025

The musical direction is by Samuel Restle, who received the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize in 2025. Under his leadership, the Hohenheim Bigband has become a fixture in the Baden-Württemberg jazz scene — a university ensemble of semi-professional standard.

Hohenheim Palace in the Plieningen district of Stuttgart is home to the University of Hohenheim and one of Baden-Württemberg's most beautiful baroque palace complexes. The palace park with its Botanical Garden, Exotic Garden, and State Arboretum forms the ideal open-air backdrop for a summer evening of jazz.
