Overview

In the summer of 2025, the University of Hohenheim Bigband also performed its traditional open-air concert in the East Courtyard of Hohenheim Palace. The "Swing in the Air" format has been established since 2016, offering students, faculty, and the Stuttgart public a summer jazz evening under the open sky in the baroque palace courtyard each year — with changing guest soloists and a program of bigband classics, original arrangements, and new pieces under the direction of Samuel Restle.

Open-Air Concert in Summer 2025

As every year, the University of Hohenheim Bigband invited guests to a summer open-air concert in the East Courtyard of Hohenheim Palace in 2025. The concert format "Swing in the Air" has been established since 2016 and is a fixed point in the university's cultural calendar — students, faculty, guests, and Stuttgart's jazz audience gather on the palace lawn.

The program included bigband classics, original arrangements, and pieces with a guest singer or soloist. Under the musical direction of Samuel Restle, who was honored with the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize in 2025, the ensemble has developed into one of the most distinguished student bigbands in the region.
