Annual open-air concert event at Bürgerhaus Zernsdorf — Live music, art, and community to round off the summer
Zernsdorf is a district of the town of Königs Wusterhausen in the Dahme-Spreewald district. The Bürgerhaus Zernsdorf on Friedrich-Engels-Straße is one of the most important cultural centres in the community — a self-managed venue hosting readings, concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, and community events. The Bürgerhausverein, a non-profit organisation, programmes the venue with volunteer commitment; Summers End is one of the most traditional and visible events of the year.
"Summers End" — the closing of summer — programmatically describes its purpose: a festival at the transition from summer to autumn, where the last warm days are savoured through music. The programme is deliberately small-scale: no mega-bands, but local and regional acts from folk, acoustic, and alternative genres. Art installations complement the stage; shared food and drink strengthen the sense of community. You're not at a big festival here, but at a civic open-air event with local relevance.
Folk and acoustic music form the musical focus. Bands from Brandenburg, Berlin, and sometimes further afield perform — usually one or two acts per evening, who can present their songs in the intimate Bürgerhaus setting. Art installations — often by regional artists — are displayed around the Bürgerhaus and on the outdoor grounds. Food stalls offer regional specialities.
Admission is €10 per person, with children under 12 free. This is a deliberately low threshold — Summers End is a community-driven, not a commercial, festival. With its 7th edition (in reference to "Summers End VII"), the format has become established and demonstrates what a small local community with an active association can achieve in the cultural sector. Those who want to experience Brandenburg village culture beyond the big festivals will find an ideal destination here.
The annual Summers End will take place in September 2026 at the Bürgerhaus Zernsdorf. Live music (folk, acoustic, alternative genres), art installations, and communal dining characterise the format. A small but fine Brandenburg festival event with local relevance.
The Bürgerhausverein Zernsdorf e.V. — a non-profit organisation — programmes the venue on a volunteer basis.
