Nature Park Festival with Regional Market in Lieberose Castle Park
The Summer Festival of the Lieberoser Heide is the annual open day of the Naturwelt Foundation of the same name. The venue is the historic Lieberose Castle Park in the Dahme-Spreewald district — a green oasis on the edge of the former military training area of Lieberoser Heide, which today is one of the largest undeveloped wilderness areas in Central Europe. Nature conservation, regional market, and folk culture meet here.
The 2026 edition will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the Lieberose Castle Park, Mühlenstraße 20. Opening at 10 a.m. with a church service and welcome by the mayor and representatives of the Naturwelt Foundation. The Market of Opportunities with over 30 exhibitors runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Live music and program items alternate on the main stage.
Musically, two local bands provide the atmosphere: the folk group Die Bertianer plays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and in the afternoon (2–4 p.m.), Die Tulenz Brüder take over. In parallel, the falconer presents birds of prey, artists from the Jamlitz colony open their studios, and families compete in small contests related to local flora and fauna in the Naturwelt Olympiad.
At the Market of Opportunities, over 30 exhibitors offer alpaca wool, honey specialties, Plinsen (potato pancakes), grilled classics, regional wines, and homemade cakes. A special feature: Sorbian language taster courses recall the Slavic tradition of Lower Lusatia — the Lieberoser Heide borders the ancestral Sorbian/Wendish settlement area.
The small town of Lieberose in the Dahme-Spreewald district is located about 100 km southeast of Berlin. The surrounding Lieberoser Heide was a military training area for decades; today it is one of Brandenburg's largest wilderness areas — wolves, hoopoes, and larks feel at home here. The Naturwelt Foundation takes care of the area and uses the summer festival as a showcase for its work.
By car: A13 Berlin–Dresden, exit Staakow, then B168 towards Beeskow, continue to Lieberose (approx. 1:15 h from Berlin). Public transport: Regional train to Cottbus or Lübben, then bus to Lieberose. Parking spaces are marked at the castle park.
Detailed admission regulations will be announced by Naturwelt Lieberoser Heide gGmbH before the festival weekend — traditionally free or symbolic admission. Donations for the foundation's work are welcome.
