Grand Wine Festival of the Alzey-Land Municipal Association with vintners from 24 municipalities
The Wine Festival of the Alzey-Land Municipal Association is one of Rheinhessen's most unusual wine festivals: it takes place every year in a different municipality of the association, bringing together vintners from all 24 municipalities of the Alzey-Land association. This rotating hosting creates a unique dynamic – a new festival location each year, with the same promise of quality.
In 2026, Gau-Odernheim takes its turn. The municipality, with its historic winemaking tradition, offers an ideal festival backdrop with its main street axis from Mainzer Straße to Untermarkt and Obermarkt, as well as the Petersberghalle. The Weinstraße – as the central axis is called during the festival – will be equipped with stands, pavilions, and stages.
The special feature is the participation of vintners from all 24 municipalities of the association. This makes the wine festival a traveling showcase for the entire municipal association. The diversity of grape varieties, styles, and winemaking philosophies is impressive.
The program follows a proven format, enhanced with new additions: Friday: Opening at 7 PM and crowning of the new Wine Queen. Saturday: Wine tasting at 3 PM, church choir concert in the Petersberghalle at 6 PM, followed by band performances with Extraordinary, The Candies, and Kalli Koppold. Sunday: Festive church service at 10 AM, grand parade at 2 PM through the Weinstraße.
For the 2026 edition, there are two new additions: a karaoke evening brings a fresh vibe to the format, and the church choir concert in the Petersberghalle expands the cultural spectrum.
In addition to the Weinstraße, the Petersberghalle and the Obermarkt are important venues. The Petersberghalle serves as a covered event space for concerts and readings, while the Obermarkt acts as an additional festival area for catering and programming.
The 2026 VG Wine Festival will take place in Gau-Odernheim. The venues are the Weinstraße between Mainzer Straße and Untermarkt, the Obermarkt, and the Petersberghalle.
Vintners from all 24 municipalities of the Alzey-Land Municipal Association are participating.
