Ruhlsdorf — Village in the Barnim Nature Park

Ruhlsdorf is a district of the municipality of Marienwerder in the Barnim district, northeast of Berlin. The area belongs to the Barnim Nature Park — a hilly, wooded end moraine landscape with a dense network of small villages. Ruhlsdorf itself has a typical Märkisch village green, the Dorfanger, as its center: an elongated strip of grass between the farmhouses, dating back to the Middle Ages. It is precisely this Dorfanger that is the venue for the annual harvest festival.

Traditional Harvest Festival Organized by Associations

The Ruhlsdorf Harvest Festival is jointly organized by the Municipality of Marienwerder and the Ruhlsdorf-Barnim e.V. local heritage association. It is not a major tourist event, but a village association festival with a long tradition — primarily for the residents of Ruhlsdorf and the surrounding villages, supplemented by guests from neighboring communities and nearby Berlin.

Program Schedule: Food, Stage, Lottery

The program follows a tried-and-tested harvest festival format. From 6 p.m., the catering opens in front of the festival tent — typical harvest festival dishes such as grilled items, salads, cakes from the association's women, and regional drinks. From 8 p.m., the stage program begins in the festival tent: SHOWBAND SOWIESO plays pop, Schlager, and dance hits — an established Brandenburg show band that is a regular guest at association festivals in the Barnim region. During the breaks, the traditional Ruhlsdorf lottery takes place with prizes donated by local businesses and association members.

Admission €10, Lottery Ticket Included

Admission to the harvest festival costs €10 and includes a lottery ticket. Children under 14 have free admission. This makes the format designed as a family festival — the lottery component of the admission fee also finances the prizes. The 2024 event took place on September 14, 2024; a date for 2026 has not yet been officially published. Expectation: a weekend in early or mid-September 2026.

Local Heritage Association as the Driving Force

Behind the harvest festival is the Ruhlsdorf-Barnim e.V. local heritage association — a typical Brandenburg local heritage association that preserves village history, organizes events, and keeps village community life active. Such associations are a central factor in the villages of Barnim — they host the harvest festivals, village festivals, and summer association evenings that shape village life. With the municipality of Marienwerder as an institutional partner, the financing and approval of the festival are secured.
