In 2026, the Bluesfriends im Städtedreieck will continue their Südstaatenmusikfest on the Naab River by the Fischerhäusl at Irl (29th edition). As usual, visitors can expect a two-day blues and rock open-air event with numerous groovy bands and free admission, along with draft beer, steaks, chili, barbecue, and a campfire atmosphere. The exact date in July and the full lineup had not yet been published at the time of research; based on experience, the festival takes place on a Friday and Saturday in the second half of July (2025: July 18/19). The organizer remains the association Bluesfriends im Städtedreieck e.V.

Getting There

The festival grounds are located on the Naab river by the Fischerhäusl at Irl near Burglengenfeld (Schwandorf district). Access to the grounds is signposted.

Open Air for Blues Fans

The Südstaatenmusikfest is the summer blues and rock open-air event in the town of Burglengenfeld, in the district of Schwandorf. The organizer is the association Bluesfriends im Städtedreieck e.V., founded in 1999, which continues the festival concept. For environmental reasons, the festival moved from California-Weiher to its current location: the idyllic grounds on the Naab river by the Fischerhäusl at Irl.

Over two days, numerous groovy bands perform – from classic and blues rock to Delta and Chicago blues, rock 'n' roll, beat, and rockabilly. In past years, guests have included the house band Bläck Train, Boarisch Blues, German Blues Challenge winner Muddy What?, and Véronique Gayot & Band. Draft beer, steaks, chili, barbecue, and a cozy campfire ensure attendees are well catered for.
