Saxony's Big Gymnastics Festival — Every 4 to 8 Years
The State Gymnastics Festival of the Saxon Gymnastics Association (STV) is one of the largest sporting events in the Free State. It is held every 4 to 8 years in various locations and brings together Saxon gymnasts and popular sports athletes for a three-day festival of competitions, championships, and participatory activities. In 2026, the 8th edition will be held in Limbach-Oberfrohna — for the first time in this Saxon medium-sized town on the edge of the Ore Mountains.
June 26–28, 2026 — Three Days of Gymnastics Festival
From Friday, June 26, to Sunday, June 28, 2026, Limbach-Oberfrohna will transform into a sports city. The central venue is the large sports hall, and numerous other sports facilities in the city — school gymnasiums, outdoor sports areas, the city park, the stadium — will also be used. All STV disciplines will be represented: classic artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, trampoline gymnastics, aerobics, show and dance groups, vaulting, sports acrobatics, children's gymnastics, senior gymnastics, and popular sports disciplines.
Saxon Championships and Participatory Competitions
The State Gymnastics Festival combines competitive elite sports with accessible popular sports activities. Saxon championships will be held in several disciplines, and at the same time, there will be participatory competitions for hobby athletes and even spectators — taster sessions, small competitions, fitness courses. The spectacle makes the STV State Gymnastics Festival a family-friendly Volksfest (popular festival) with a sporting focus.
Gala Program on Saturday Evening and Children's Gymnastics Show on Sunday
The highlight of the weekend is the grand gala program on Saturday evening, June 27, 2026, in the large sports hall. Under the motto "Turn-Show Sachsen" (Gymnastics Show Saxony), selected clubs and top athletes will perform in staged choreographies, and awards and honors will be presented. On Sunday, the festival concludes with a children's gymnastics show on the theme of the environment, aiming to inspire young audiences for both physical activity and sustainability.
Saxony, Limbach-Oberfrohna, and the Gymnastics Association
With over 130,000 members, the Saxon Gymnastics Association (STV) is one of the largest sports associations in Saxony. It organizes clubs in almost every Saxon municipality and carries a rich tradition of gymnastics and sports. Limbach-Oberfrohna, with around 23,000 inhabitants, is one of the larger towns in the Zwickau district, positioning itself as a sports-loving center of Saxony by hosting the State Gymnastics Festival. The large sports hall and the adjacent stadium offer optimal conditions — the State Gymnastics Festival is the city's most important major sporting event in 2026.

Three days of gymnastics and sports festival in Limbach-Oberfrohna. Athletes from all over Saxony will compete in numerous disciplines, Saxon championships will be held, and accessible participatory activities will invite spectators of all ages to engage in sports themselves.
The highlight is the gala program on Saturday evening in the large sports hall with show choreographies and award ceremonies. Sunday concludes the festival with a children's gymnastics show on the theme of the environment — physical activity and sustainability as a dual educational mission.
