FC 07 Albstadt's sports ground festival in the Tailfingen district with live music and catering
At the end of June, the Lichtenbol sports ground in Albstadt's Tailfingen district opens its gates for the S'Lichtenbolfescht — let the dialect name roll off your tongue: S' for "das" (the), Lichtenbol for the location on the Langenwand/Lichtenbol slope, Fescht for the Alemannic word for "Fest" (festival). For two days — Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, 2026 — FC 07 Albstadt transforms its sports ground into an open-air festival site, focusing on football, shared meals, music, and community interaction.
FC 07 Albstadt is a traditional football club in the Tailfingen district, whose members cater the event themselves. You'll find classic sports ground specialties: bratwurst and steak from the grill, fries, pork knuckles, Maultaschen, steak sandwiches — along with beer from a regional brewery (often from the Zollernalb district), wine from Hohenzollern-Hof, and non-alcoholic refreshments. Catering usually runs from late morning until deep into the night on both days.
The exact program is adapted annually by FC 07 to its capabilities but follows a proven pattern: Saturday usually features youth tournaments in the morning, catering starts with lunch, and in the afternoon there are matches, with live music from local bands or a DJ in the evening. Sunday begins with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), lunch, a family program in the afternoon, and winds down in the evening. You'll get less of a concert experience here and more of a classic Swabian-Alemannic sports club festival with a great emphasis on sitting together.
The Tailfingen district, with around 13,000 inhabitants, is the largest part of Albstadt, a district town in the Zollernalb district with a total population of about 45,000. Tailfingen became famous as the center of the South German hosiery and knitwear industry — brands like Mey and Trigema have their roots here and operate worldwide. The Schalksburg, a castle ruin at 850 m above the town, offers a panoramic view of the Swabian Jura. In summer, Albstadt is a mecca for hikers and mountain bikers — the town hosted the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in 2017.
The Lichtenbol sports ground is located on the ridge between Tailfingen's town center and the higher Schalksburg, in the Langenwand district. It houses football pitches, a sports hall, shooting ranges, and tennis courts — a classic Swabian club area used in summer for football tournaments, club festivals, and training sessions. During the S'Lichtenbolfescht, the main pitch is repurposed for catering tents, and the stage is typically set up at the edge of the field.
The 2026 edition of the S'Lichtenbolfescht continues the long tradition of the Tailfingen sports ground festival. FC 07 Albstadt will provide catering as usual with grilled specialties and regional beer; the program includes football tournaments, family activities, and evening live music with local bands.
