86th edition on the Cannstatter Wasen — world's largest spring festival with five beer tents, 220 attractions, and 1.3 million visitors
The Stuttgart Spring Festival is the largest spring festival in the world — larger than the Stuttgart Volksfest in autumn ever was, and older than most comparable events in Bavaria. It has been held on the Cannstatter Wasen since 1939 (with interruptions), the festival grounds on the Neckar between MHP Arena and the Cannstatt district. The 86th edition in 2026 runs from Saturday, April 18, to Sunday, May 10, 2026. The organizer is in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft.
Table reservations for the beer tents open in January. A liter of beer (Mass) in 2026 will cost around 13–15 euros, comparable to the Munich Oktoberfest, slightly cheaper than at the autumn Volksfest.
The Wasen grounds accommodate around 220 rides, food stalls, and market stands. Highlights include the Ferris wheel with Cannstatt panorama, several mobile roller coasters (e.g., Alpina Bahn, Höllenblitz), free-fall towers, bumper cars, haunted houses, and classic children's rides. In addition, there are show booths, fortune tellers, shooting galleries, lottery booths — the full spectrum of Central European fairground culture.
A special feature of the Stuttgart Spring Festival is the Albdorf, a dedicated area thematically representing the Swabian Jura. At least 75 percent of the food and drinks sold here come from Baden-Württemberg — from Trollinger wine to Swabian Maultaschen and lentils with Spätzle, to Albbäcker bread. Around 250 exhibitors and small businesses from the region participate.
The Cannstatter Wasen is the historic festival grounds of Stuttgart's oldest district — Bad Cannstatt. In 1818, King Wilhelm I of Württemberg founded the main agricultural festival on this site in response to a famine — this evolved into the Cannstatter Volksfest in autumn and, many decades later, the Spring Festival. Today, the grounds are nestled between NeckarPark, MHP Arena, and the historic old town of Cannstatt — part of the city of Stuttgart, the largest city in Baden-Württemberg.
The 86th edition of the world's largest spring festival takes place from Saturday, April 18, to Sunday, May 10, 2026 — as always on the Cannstatter Wasen. With 23 festival days and around 1.3 million expected visitors, 2026 is set to be another successful year. The five large beer tents are already reserved from January, and the showmen will begin setting up from April 10.
