Scattered fruit tree meadows are among the most biologically valuable cultural landscapes in Central Europe. With numerous apple, pear, cherry, and plum varieties, they are home to hundreds of insect, bird, and mammal species and are also carriers of a rich genetic heritage of old varieties.

Content of the tour

The annual Streuobst-Wanderung of the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park starts in autumn and leads through the orchards and scattered fruit tree meadows around the state-recognized health resort of Wittenhagen. Nature park rangers explain:

• Old and rare fruit varieties of the region
• Importance for pollinating insects, birds, and small mammals

The Streuobst-Wanderung is part of a series of guided tours offered by the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park (Amphibian Festival, Bird Watching, Wild Herb Hikes, Sacred Halls) and complements the ecologically educational program with a clear connection to the cultural landscape.
