From May 9th to 17th, 2026, Streitberg will shine with light for nine evenings as part of »Oberfranken leuchtet«. The illumination begins at dusk around 8:30 PM, preceded by a daily changing pre-evening program from around 6:30 PM with music and culinary offerings. Highlights include the music evening »Leuchtende Nacht, strahlende Töne«, convivial hours in the Wagnersgarten, a church service, and a hike to the Neideck Castle ruins. The finale on May 17th is the »Long Night in the Binghöhle« with themed and discovery tours. Admission to all events is free.

Getting There
Streitberg is located in the municipality of Wiesenttal (91346) on the railway line through the Wiesenttal valley; arrive by train (Streitberg stop) or via the B470 through Franconian Switzerland.
Admission
Admission to all events is free. Fees may apply for individual cave tours.
Tip
The illumination only unfolds its effect from dusk around 8:30 PM onwards – sturdy footwear is recommended for the evening stroll.

»Streitberg leuchtet« is a light and culture festival in the Streitberg district of the municipality of Wiesenttal in the Forchheim district (Bavaria, Upper Franconia region). It is part of the Upper Franconian initiative »Oberfranken leuchtet« and is supported by the municipality of Wiesenttal together with Oberfranken Offensiv. For nine evenings, the health resort in the Franconian Switzerland shines in atmospheric light.
Illumination and Pre-Evening Program
The illumination of the light installations begins at dusk around 8:30 PM. Before that, a changing pre-evening program runs daily from around 6:30 PM, featuring music and culinary experiences. This creates a new experience of light, music, and encounters every evening.
