About Palzemer Kellertage

The Palzemer Kellertage celebrate their 40th edition in 2026. On May 16th and 17th, 2026, four Palzem wineries – Boesen, SAUERWEINs GbR, Zens, and Jeger – will open their doors to visitors from near and far. Saturday is dedicated to a wine hike along the wine educational trail (already fully booked), and on Sunday from 12 PM, the open cellars begin. The specialty of the Upper Mosel and the Palzem vintners is Elbling, one of the oldest European white wine varieties. An additional evening hike follows on June 20th. The municipality of Palzem in the Trier-Saarburg district, Saarburg-Kell association, is a classic wine travel destination on the southern Mosel.

The Palzemer Kellertage are one of the most traditional wine events on the Upper Mosel. In 2026, they celebrate their 40th edition – a remarkable anniversary that underscores the close connection between the Palzem vintners and their audience.

The weekend of May 16th and 17th, 2026 brings four wineries and their cellars into focus:

  • Weingut Boesen
  • SAUERWEINs GbR
  • Weingut Zens
  • Weingut Jeger

On Saturday, May 16th, starting at 2 PM, a guided wine hike through the wine educational trail will take place (usually booked up quickly). The tour combines the beauty of the Palzem vineyards with expert explanations on cultivation, varieties, and locations. On Sunday, May 17th, starting at 12 PM, the open cellars begin. Visitors can visit the four wineries, taste their wines, and chat with the vintners.

The region's specialty is Elbling – one of the oldest European white wine varieties, grown almost exclusively on the southern Mosel between Trier and the Luxembourg border. It produces fresh, crisp, mineral-driven wines that are considered perfect aperitifs and also pair excellently with light dishes. In addition, the vintners will present Riesling, Burgundy varieties, and – as a regional specialty – Sekt (sparkling wine).

An additional evening hike on June 20th, 2026 complements the 2026 Kellertage program and offers an intimate variant with a smaller group size. Palzem is located in the Trier-Saarburg district, Saarburg-Kell association, on the southern Mosel.
