A Bergisches Food Truck Tradition is Emerging
While street food festivals in Cologne, Düsseldorf, or Bonn have long been standard, the Bergisches Land region had no comparable format for a long time. This changed in 2024 when the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, in cooperation with the Hennef-based agency Heide Event, launched the Street Food Festival Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, bringing food truck culture to the Marktplatz Am Wiedenhof for the first time. The second edition in 2025 (June 28th/29th) confirmed the concept — and the municipality explicitly communicated that the festival is intended to become a permanent part of the annual calendar. The 2026 edition is thus announced; the exact date will be communicated by the organizer in due course.
Around a Dozen Food Trucks — International Cuisine
The selection of food trucks focuses on culinary diversity from around the world:
- Classics: BBQ, Pulled Pork, Smash Burgers, Fries, German home-style cooking
- Asia: Bibimbap (Korea), Bánh mì (Vietnam), Pad Thai (Thailand), Sushi
- South Asia: Indian curries, Naan, Samosas
- Africa: Ghanaian Jollof, Moroccan Tagine, Ethiopian Injera
- Philippines: Adobo, Lumpia, Halo-Halo
- Latin America: Tacos, Burritos, Empanadas
Beer Garden and Wine Selection
The food offerings are complemented by a large beer garden with shaded seating, a wine bar featuring regional and international wines, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. This makes the festival attractive for longer stays — many visitors come for several hours and sample the offerings.
Heide Event — The Organizer
Behind the event is Heide Event, an event agency based in Hennef specializing in street food festivals and event catering, implementing similar formats in several municipalities in the Bergisches Land. The food truck lineup is curated — no duplicate offerings, broad culinary range, quality-checked vendors.
Neunkirchen-Seelscheid — The Twin Bergisches Municipality
The municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid was formed from the merger of two villages in the southern Bergisches Land — about 25 km east of Bonn and 35 km southeast of Cologne. It is part of the Rhein-Sieg district and is characterized by village-like rural structures with a lively town center at the Marktplatz Am Wiedenhof. For visitors from the Cologne-Bonn area, the street food festival is a good reason for a short trip to the Bergisches Land — combined with a hike or a visit to a café in the town center.

Following the successful 2025 event (June 28th/29th), the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid plans to establish the festival as a permanent fixture in the annual calendar for 2026.
