Pankow as a Berlin Street Food Hotspot
When the food trucks roll onto Marktplatz Pankow and the aroma of tacos, curries, pulled pork, and vegan bowl food wafts through Breiten Straße, one of Berlin's most popular street food festivals begins in the Pankow district. For several years, the Street Food Festival Berlin Pankow has been bringing culinary diversity from all over the world directly in front of the historic Pankow town hall several times a year.
What to Expect
Unlike the large commercial street food events in exhibition halls, this festival takes place open-air in the lively market square — and that's its charm. The manageable area typically features 30 to 50 food trucks and stalls, curated by organizer Jüttner Entertainment:
- International Cuisine: Burgers, Tacos, Curries, Wraps, Bowls, Pizza, Crêpes, Desserts
- Special Country Corners: Indian, African, Jamaican, European classics
- Vegetarian and vegan options strongly represented
- Drinks: Wines, cocktails, beers from around the world
- DJs create a relaxed festival atmosphere (often with a focus on Schlager, 90s, and Reggae in the evenings)
- Children's Entertainment: Carousels, bouncy castles, face painting
- Live Music alternating with DJ sets
One District, One Tradition
The district of Pankow is one of Berlin's most vibrant middle-class areas — young families, those who grew up in the GDR, newcomers, and long-time Pankow residents have mingled at the weekly market for decades. The Street Food Festival is now part of this neighborhood identity: locals, tourists, and gastronomy insiders meet for a few days in a place whose drinking culture and open-air sociability are perfectly suited for this format.
What Sets the Festival Apart from the Mainstream
With an entrance fee of only €2 (fully redeemable as a drink voucher, children under 12 free), the Pankow event is a pleasant departure from many other street food festivals in Berlin, which sometimes charge €6–€8. Family-friendly, neighborhood-focused, without the mega-event character of large indoor venues.
