Berlin's late summer wine festival at Marktplatz Breite Straße in Pankow – three days of vintners, Federweißer, and stage program
Pankow in Berlin's northeast is a bourgeois residential area with a long-standing market tradition – the weekly market at Breiten Straße has been a meeting point for the neighborhood for decades. Once a year, Berlin wine lovers use this square for a three-day wine festival that doesn't try to compete with the great Rhenish classics, but creates a relaxed, village-like atmosphere in the middle of Berlin.
The core of the festival is formed by vintner families from several German growing regions – traditionally Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Mosel, Franken, and Baden, supplemented by international stalls. They serve wine from their current vintage, offer Federweißer (fresh, still fermenting wine), and complement it with sparkling wines, late harvests, and in some years, liqueurs. The offerings are supplemented by cheese and sausage specialties, as well as sweet stalls with chestnuts, roasted almonds, and gingerbread.
Over the weekend, several acts (singer-songwriters, folk and Schlager formats, cover bands) perform on the stage at the market square. Highlights include the ritual appearances of Bacchus and the Wine Queen, who open the festival with a small performance and are present at several points throughout the weekend.
Pankow belongs to the Pankow district and is located in Berlin's northeast. Visitors to the wine festival can complement their visit with a walk in Bürgerpark Pankow, a classically designed public park, or take a detour to Schlosspark Schönhausen, the former summer palace of the Prussian royal family.
The Pankower Winzerfest has been held for many years on the last weekend of October – Friday from approx. 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. At the market square on Breiten Straße, vintners from several German and some international growing regions present themselves. They serve wine, offer advice, and sell their wines directly to visitors.
Highlights of the festival traditionally include the appearances of Bacchus and the Wine Queen, who open the festival on Friday evening and are present at several points throughout the weekend. Fresh Federweißer from the current harvest complements the offerings. Accompanying cheese, sausage, bread, and sweet stalls are available. Several singer-songwriter and cover band acts perform on stage. The official program for 2026 will be announced on pankower-winzerfest.de and weinfreunde-berlin.de.
Specific dates for 2026, stall list, and stage program will be published by the organizer in early autumn 2026.
