Street Food Culture at Siegfriedplatz

Siegfriedplatz in Bielefeld-Mitte, known locally as Sieggi, is a true urban hub: cafes, a brewery, a pétanque court, and residential areas with a well-established multicultural character. Four times a year, the Street Food Days transform the square into a street food festival. The April/May 2026 edition is one of the most important food truck events in East Westphalia and the entire region between Hanover and Münster.

2026 Program — Four Days of International Cuisine

• Thursday, April 30, 2026: 6:00 PM–10:00 PM — Opening evening with live Cuban music (Latin vibes at sunset)
• Friday, May 1, 2026: 12:00 PM–10:00 PM — May Day party with live stage program, bouncy castle for children, family day
• Saturday, May 2, 2026: 12:00 PM–10:00 PM — Main market day with full food truck presence
• Sunday, May 3, 2026: 12:00 PM–8:00 PM — Market winding down

Food Truck Spectrum

Around 20 food trucks and street food stalls will present a spectrum ranging from Korean street food (Bao Buns, Bibimbap, KFC) to Mexican Tacos with homemade tortillas, Argentinian Empanadas, Indian Curries, Arabian Falafel Wraps, American Burgers (classic + vegan), BBQ stands with pulled pork and brisket, Asian wok cuisine, French Crêpes, and Italian street food (Arancini, Tramezzini, Cannoli). There's something for every taste — including vegan and vegetarian options.

Drinks and Atmosphere

Local breweries (e.g., Hopf-Bräu Bielefeld) will serve craft beer, along with wine, cocktails, non-alcoholic sodas, and fresh juices. Seating will be available under awnings, at long beer benches, or on lounge chairs. DJ sets and live music will entertain the crowd, creating a cozy open-air festival atmosphere throughout the days.

Meeting Point for Friends and Families

The organizers emphasize: The Street Food Days are a "meeting point for circles of friends, families, and everyone who appreciates good food." Unlike a traditional city festival (Stadtfest), the focus here is on culinary quality — the food trucks are deliberately curated.

Bielefeld as a University and Foodie City

Bielefeld has around 340,000 inhabitants and is the largest city in East Westphalia-Lippe. The University of Bielefeld and the University of Applied Sciences attract a young, cosmopolitan population with an affinity for street food. The neighborhood around Siegfriedplatz (Westviertel) is one of the city's most dynamic quarters.
