The traditional Franconian Kirchweih in Geslau in Romantic Franconia
The Kirchweih Geslau is one of the traditional Franconian Kerwa festivals in the Romantic Franconia region. Geslau is located in the district of Ansbach in the state of Bavaria, in the heart of West Middle Franconia. The festival is supported by the Geslau Kerwa Buam and Madli, who, together with the local clubs and the Roth showman family, prepare a varied program for young and old.
The highlight of the Kirchweih is the traditional Kerwa parade by the Kerwa Buam and Kerwa Madli in the afternoon. Dressed in Franconian traditional costume, they march through the town, keeping a centuries-old custom alive. The parade is framed by a festive service in St. Kilian's Church, Kirchweih coffee, and a convivial Frühschoppen.
In the festival hall, visitors can expect extensive festival activities with an extensive menu. On the festival grounds, the Roth showman family provides entertainment:
The Geslau Kirchweih is firmly anchored in the event calendar of West Middle Franconia and attracts visitors from the entire Ansbach district. It combines church customs, Franconian conviviality, and folk festival atmosphere – a typical example of the vibrant Kerwa culture in Romantic Franconia. Open daily from 6:00 PM to midnight.
From October 8 to 12, 2026, Geslau celebrates its traditional Kirchweih. Daily from 6:00 PM to midnight, the Geslau Kerwa Buam and Madli, together with the local clubs and the Roth showman family, invite you to a varied program for young and old.
The program includes a festive service in St. Kilian's Church, Kirchweih coffee, the traditional Kerwa parade of the Kerwa Buam and Kerwa Madli in the afternoon, and a Frühschoppen. The festival hall offers extensive activities with a varied menu, plus carousels, dodgems, a shooting gallery, and a tombola stall.

Admission to the Geslau Kirchweih is free. Food, drinks, and rides are paid for individually.
