Four-Weeks-After-Easter Tradition at the Holy Cross Church
Neusitz is located in the Ansbach district, in close proximity to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The Holy Cross Church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Neusitz has roots dating back around 1,000 years and shapes the village's appearance. Its Kirchweih is celebrated according to a fixed rule: "four weeks after Easter" — a tradition maintained in many small Franconian parishes.
Bavaria, administrative region Middle Franconia, Ansbach district. The "Four-Weeks-After-Easter" tradition is a specific Franconian variant of the Kirchweih, differing from the common October Kerwa (Kirchweih) schedule. In Neusitz, it is consistently maintained — and the Holy Cross Church, with its ancient structure, provides a worthy setting.
Easter falls on April 5, 2026, so four weeks later, the Kirchweih in Neusitz is on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The program follows the established structure: festival service in the morning, activities in the afternoon around the Holy Cross Church.
