Lounge 76 — edition 2026
Summer 2026 in a Lounge Atmosphere
Lounge 76 2026 is spread over four weekends from mid-May to early August. The organizer is the Karlsruhe City Initiative e.V., with partners Fächerbräu and Stadtwerke Karlsruhe. The concept remains unchanged: the Marktplatz in front of the pyramid serves as a pop-up lounge with lounge furniture, a cocktail bar, a DJ booth, and lighting that leaves the city landmark uncovered.
The opening weekend, May 15th/16th, is themed around the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna — featuring 22 light beams and its own cap station as a visual connection to the ESC. The following three weekends follow the regular lounge format.

The Marktplatz as a Pop-up Lounge
Karlsruhe, with its fan-shaped layout and central pyramid, is one of Germany's most architecturally striking major cities. The City Initiative Karlsruhe e.V., an association of Karlsruhe's city center businesses, has been using this location for summer pop-up formats for years. Lounge 76 (named after the postal code 76 and the Marktplatz as the city's location) is the annual summer series that transforms the area around the pyramid into a summer lounge with DJ sets and a cocktail bar on several weekends.
Four Friday/Saturday Dates in 2026
The 2026 program includes four weekends. Opening on Friday, May 15th / Saturday, May 16th, 2026, with an ESC-themed weekend — 22 light beams, swing music, and its own cap station (parallel to the Eurovision final in Vienna). This is followed by Friday, June 12th, with a three-day format including Saturday, June 13th, and Sunday, June 14th (with the "June 14th" variant according to Karlsruhe-erleben.de), Friday, July 17th / Saturday, July 18th, and Friday, August 7th / Saturday, August 8th. Friday sessions are an afterwork format from 5 PM to 11 PM with changing DJ teams and "cool drinks." Saturday is divided into an afternoon block (2 PM–6 PM) and an evening block (6 PM–11 PM) — relaxed during the day, danceable in the evening.
DJs, Cocktails, and the Pyramid
The musical program alternates between local DJs from the Karlsruhe scene and occasional guest acts. The cocktail bar offers summer classics (Aperol Spritz, Hugo, Mojito) and its own Lounge 76 creations. The partner is the Karlsruhe brewery Fächerbräu, which supplies draft beer, as well as Stadtwerke Karlsruhe as sponsors. Lighting and stage construction are chosen so that the pyramid remains visible as a landmark — no stage obscures the city symbol.
Karlsruhe — A City with its Own Postal Code Identity
With around 308,000 inhabitants, Karlsruhe is the second-largest city in Baden-Württemberg after Stuttgart and belongs to the urban district 08212. The choice of the event brand "Lounge 76" uses the postal code as an urban identity marker — a strategy common in Karlsruhe's advertising and city marketing language.
