Schnelsen-Süd celebrates itself

The Straßenparty International in Schnelsen-Süd is a classic Hamburg neighbourhood festival – supported by the community, shaped by the diversity of the families living in the residential area around Vörn Brook. Turkish, Polish, Syrian, Ghanaian, Afghan, German, and many other neighbours present their homelands: food, music, dances, languages.

Vörn Brook as a festival mile

On a Sunday in July, the street Vörn Brook is closed to traffic and equipped with marquees, standing tables, a small stage, and play areas. Several hundred residents come together, grilling on their own facilities, and the stage is used by local initiatives, dance groups, and school choirs.

Eimsbüttel District, Western Hamburg

Schnelsen-Süd is located in the Eimsbüttel district, in the far northwest of Hamburg, right on the border with Schleswig-Holstein. For years, the street party has been the most important occasion for the neighbourhood to show itself collectively – a format that achieves great impact with a small budget.

Recurring Format

The last editions took place on July 1, 2023, June 29, 2024, and July 5, 2025. The festival is announced again for early July 2026; the exact date will be announced in spring on schnelsen-sued.de and in the Hamburg event calendar.
