Worms-Abenheim — Wine Village on the City's Outskirts

Worms-Abenheim is one of the western districts of Worms on the edge of the Rhenish-Hessian hilly landscape. With its vineyards, several established wineries, and a distinct village character, Abenheim is one of the traditional wine-growing villages of the city of Worms. Throughout the year, several wine events take place, from the Bajazzofest and May Days to the Open Garden Day and the Autumn Leaf Harvest Festival.

Weingut Spohr

Weingut Spohr is a family-run Rhenish-Hessian business located at "Zum Berg 36" in Worms-Abenheim. The family cultivates the classic Rhenish-Hessian grape spectrum — Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir — and is actively involved in local festival culture.

Bajazzofest — the Worms May Celebration

Over the years, the Bajazzofest has established itself as a fixture on the May calendar. The name alludes to the cheerful, festive atmosphere that blends wine, music, and communal celebration into its own May festival. It opens on May 1st from 11:30 AM; the program runs through the afternoon and into the early evening.

Program and Atmosphere

The wine-growing family opens its courtyard and tasting room for an open courtyard festival. The current vintages are tasted, with a focus on their own white wines; additionally, Rhenish-Hessian specialties are offered — from Spundekäs and Bratwurst to a homemade cake buffet. Live music in the courtyard or barn provides the right atmosphere.
